About Me
I’m Matt Baugnon, a competitive dancer trained in Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, and Tap. I’ve been on the competition team at The Studio School of Dance for 10 years and have qualified for nationals multiple times with both solo and group performances.
The dance studio is where I’ve grown up, learned discipline, and found how I like to challenge and express myself. I love working with choreographers, and I gravitate toward high-energy character-driven numbers that grab the audience.
Movement + Music = Life
Music is a big part of who I am. I play piano and drums, and for the past two years I’ve been studying digital music production at Fusion Academy, where I learned how to use Logic Pro.
I’ve performed live vocals and also played piano and drums for friends at Fusion’s Artist Lounge, which helped me grow a lot as a performer and collaborator.
Goals
I’m an aspiring BFA Dance major and I want to keep improving, keep performing, and keep finding new ways to tell stories through movement and music.

Stepping Up
This year, I stepped into a new role as a Teaching Assistant for Breakdance 101 at my studio. Growing up, I often found myself as the only boy in a class or at convention workshops. (Yup, that's me at age 7.) Because of that, I understand how intimidating it can feel.
As a teaching assistant, I try to be someone younger boys can look to for encouragement and confidence, reminding them that if they love to dance, nothing should hold them back.
I also volunteer with Community Center of Northern Westchester when my school and dance schedule allows. It's an amazing organization that provides food, clothing, and educational opportunities for those in need, and it feels good to be a part of that.
